Introducing people in Woodbridge, VA to Jesus

The One Anothers 6

I have been absorbed in investigation of the thought that we, as followers of Christ, are to be One Anothers. It means we are to be individual strands that come together to form a strong rope. We are to be intertwined and interdependent. We are to be people who outdo one another, in love.

“Love one another with brotherly affection. Outdo one another in showing honor. (Romans 12:10)

How are we to accomplish this One Another state of being? Don’t we have enough things to work on? Sometimes, just getting to church is a chore. Now you want me to be a One Another? On top of this, you also want me to be devoted to other One Anothers? How=a-bout I just be One unto myself, rather than to Another? Please don’t give me something more to do!!!!

Some people spend more time trying to figure out how to get out of work, than on working to be what God has called us to be. Certainly, one thing he has called us to be is devoted and honoring towards one another. It requires a regenerate spirit and the transformation that comes by renewing of mind that Paul speaks of in Romans 12:1-2.

It almost seems that some people who profess to be Christians may have been transformed…but not fully. Otherwise it seems they would naturally seek to work to outdo their brother and sister, in service, honor and devotion towards one another, as unto the Lord.

Of vital importance, to being the One Anothers that God has called us to be, is to understand this important fact: Without our fulfilling this role of being a caring, compassionate servant to one another, with genuineness and consistency, people will have no reason to be attracted to Christianity.

You see, not only are you to live as a One Another in order to be a blessing to One Another. But you are also to be a One Another so that you might draw others to want to become One Anothers.

What if we were in competition to outdo one another is showing love, compassion, hospitality and service? What a wonderful community of faith it would be. And who wouldn’t want to become part of that community?

Maybe you should go to church this coming Sunday and practice being a One Another.

Just some thoughts, from the Heart and Mind of Victor.
